About Mark & Maggie O’Connor
Husband-and-wife duo Mark and Maggie O’Connor have shared a deep musical connection since the day they met in 2014. Their newest project, Life After Life, is a heartfelt Americana album born from the pandemic’s forced pause, during which they performed 70 livestream concerts from home. Featuring mostly original songs and a few reimagined classics, the album showcases their exceptional instrumental talents, vocal harmony, and songwriting rooted in personal growth, love, and resilience.
Mark, a seven-time CMA Musician of the Year and a pioneering figure in American acoustic music, returns not just as a fiddler but as a singer, guitarist, songwriter, and producer. Maggie, with classical training from the Peabody Conservatory, brings emotional depth to both her vocals and fiddle playing. Together, their musical chemistry shines through on originals like “Ride Towards Home” and “One Sun Ray at a Time,” as well as fresh takes on Jason Isbell’s “Something to Love” and Stevie Wonder’s “Love’s In Need of Love Today.”
The album also features a standout arrangement of the Ukrainian folk tune “Verbovaya Doshechechka,” first performed online with members of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra. Recorded at Belmont University’s Fisher Center, the track serves as a moving tribute to the power of music in times of conflict and healing. The duo’s intimate blend of strings and voice throughout the album offers a rich, emotionally resonant concert experience.
With contributions from top Nashville players and longtime collaborators, Life After Life is Mark and Maggie’s most personal project to date — a musical reflection on love, change, and the enduring human spirit.
