John McEuen LIVE on Friday, January 17, 2025.
Doors: 6:30 PM, Show: 7:30 PM | The Ellis Theater, Philadelphia, MS
All ages
Join two old friends as they go over their musical lives that have touched so many. John McEuen, who, with Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and lap steel)- is a founding member-50 years there!. And, co-founder Les Thompson, who called John in 1966 asking if he “would like to join a band.” Their music was influenced by early mentoring from Rodney Dillard, whom they saw when The Dillards first played L.A. (Orange County’s Paradox -1963!). John says “without Rodney, there would not have been a ‘Circle be Unbroken’ album!”.
With footage of early NGDB, the Will the Circle Be Unbroken recording sessions and the historic 1977 NGDB Russian trip film and photos behind John and Les running as they perform in front of it, come hear about those “L.A. ‘60’s and ‘70’s daze”. Find out how these two plied their wares on the world… and it worked!
Joining John will be Danny Knicely (guitar, mandolin, vocal), incredible on both instruments (he took 1st in both at Winfield)
And please, ask any questions when John calls for them!
