Formed in 1979 in Sontag, Mississippi, The Christianaires are an award-winning gospel quartet known for blending traditional quartet harmonies with contemporary arrangements. Founded by brothers Paul and the late Tyrone Porter and their cousins Arnold and Ronald Brown, the group quickly gained recognition in the gospel world.
Their 1985 debut album, Ain’t No Way I Can Lose, launched them into the spotlight. Over the years, they produced several Billboard-charting albums, including Another Step Forward (1990) and The Vision Becomes Clearer (1993), which featured their signature hit, Two Wings—a gospel classic that achieved Certified Gold status.
Despite lineup changes, The Christianaires remained a powerful force in gospel music, collaborating with legends like The Williams Brothers and Lee Williams & The Spiritual QCs. Their live performances, including at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, continue to inspire audiences nationwide.
Now led by Paul Porter, the group has been revived and rebranded as Paul Porter & The Christianaires, carrying their legacy into a new era. In 2024, they were officially nominated for the Stellar Awards’ “Quartet of the Year.”
